What's been happening this week....

My husband and 2 boys are in Scotland since Sunday and they will be returning home tomorrow.They have gone over to enjoy some special preaching services. I must say the house has been soooo quiet in their absence; i would much rather have them at home with all the noise around me. I miss them alot even though they have only gone for a few days.Can't wait to see them tomorrow.

Anyway aside from that Jade and I have been doing a fair bit of walking this past 2 days.

Yesterday we walked to a tescos with our guard dog following us.No we don't have a dog but there is a dog called Tootsie that belongs to a lady who lives up the street and it has taken up residence in our front garden every day. The reason i call it our guard dog is because it bites any strangers who come near the door. Very handy when the Mormons or Jehovah's witnesses decide to knock...just joking. Well we have grown very fond of this wee dogie and would like to keep her but i don't think the owner would agree to that. Ah well you never know.

We went into town today and did some shopping; I just love to spend money on the kids so we got some clothes and other bits 'n' pieces. After walking from one shop to another we got very wet with the heavy rain so we stopped at a cafe and had a wee cup of tea and a bun to re-fuel and warm us up a bit. We took a bus back home and Jade really enjoyed it, so much so she wasn't shy in saying loudly "Mommy this is my first time on a bus" so everyone could hear her.

Brother Paul Forrest from Virginia needs our prayers at this time as he has taken ill with serious heart problems. Please remember him in your prayers and also his wife Judy at this time.

Gone to be with Christ which is far better....

We got news today that Pat's Father Alfie Moore went home to be with the Lord. Pat is Steve's wife (steves statements) and a Sister in Christ. I would ask you to pray for them at this difficult time; it is not easy but it is a blessing that he was saved. It's a blessing to know that it is not Goodbye but "til we meet again".

Matthew 5:4 Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Here are some pictures taken when we were at Dublin zoo. Notice how many poeple were waiting to get into the zoo. We were near the back of the line. This was only some of the people; the crowd was much bigger.

they were supposed to be for OUR lunch but

my husband just couldn't resist throwing them in.

but it was fun watching them.

Here is a picture of the Pastor of our home Church with his wife-to-be Sis. Monica. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get Pastor Mark to sit still for a picture; worse than a kid. I actually took another picture of them yesterday which i will try to get uploaded soon.

They will be married on the 7th of December and we are all looking forward to the big day.

They make a lovely couple. Congratulations you two!

Story behind the Hymn...

I found this on a website while searching the net. The site actually has a lot of hymns with the story telling you how the hymn came about.I found this very interesting so I've decided to post some of them on my blog now and again, starting with this one.

While I was at­tend­ing the World’s Fair in Chi­ca­go [Il­li­nois], Hen­ry Var­ley, a lay preac­her from Lon­don, said to Ma­jor Whit­tle: “I do not like the hymn ‘I need Thee ev­ery hour’ ve­ry well, be­cause I need Him ev­ery mo­ment of the day.

Soon af­ter Ma­jor Whit­tle wrote this sweet hymn… [He] brought the hymn to me in man­u­script a lit­tle lat­er, say­ing that he would give me the co­py­right of both the words and mu­sic if I would print for him five hund­red co­pies on fine pa­per, for dis­trib­ut­ing among his friends. His daugh­ter May Whit­tle, who lat­er be­came the wife of Will R. Moo­dy, com­posed the mu­sic. I did as Mr. Whit­tle wished; and I sent the hymn to Eng­land, where it was co­py­right­ed on the same day as at Wash­ing­ton.

In Eng­land the hymn be­came ve­ry pop­u­lar. Fall­ing in­to the hands of the well-known Rev. An­drew Mur­ray, of South Af­ri­ca, then vi­sit­ing Lon­don, he adopt­ed it as his fa­vo­rite hymn. A year lat­er Mr. Mur­ray vi­sit­ed North­field [Mas­sa­chu­setts], and while hold­ing a meet­ing for men in the church he re­marked, “If Sank­ey on­ly knew a hymn which I found in Lon­don, and would sing it, he would find that it em­brac­es my en­tire creed.” I was very anx­ious to know what hymn it was, and when he had re­cit­ed it I said to him: “Doc­tor, that hymn was writ­ten with­in five hun­dred yards of where we are stand­ing.”
For years Dr. Mur­ray had his wife sing this hymn in near­ly all his meet­ings. It al­so be­came a great fa­vo­rite in South Af­ri­ca dur­ing the war.
